Brinkman Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I've noticed the comments posted about a "facelift" Alhambra but here goes anyway-mine is a pre-facelift model. 54000 miles on the meter, and the Seat Dealer [before I dumped them] informed me that 60k was the interval change for this one -[looks a bit like those white private ambulances without the blues and twos] -anyway... Can anyone confirm this 60k is right , this 40k talk is starting to cause me a degree of insomnia Does the Alhambra follow the same pattern as the Gal with a 60k > 40k drop after June 2000?? Nope, won't be doing the cambelt change myself, I know enough to know I can't do that stuff, local garages charge Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Some of us have posted digital photos of our Galaxy mudflaps on this site !!!Fitted by first owner or supplying dealer, they stop the worst of the debris from sticking to the rear bumper, but not by much when compared to those I see that have no mudflaps fitted. As to the effectiveness of the front flaps - hard to tell, but they must help keep the bodywork cleaner than it would otherwise be. Quote
MrT Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 I got the facelifted model Ford mudflaps and they do fit well on to the car. They are moulded to fit the body line and made out of the same dimpled ABS stuff as the inserts and "spoilers" on the bumpers. The rears are just held on by a few U clips and they look as if they are part of the car. The front use one of the existing wheel arch insert screws and some U clips. On the front you also have some clear stick on plastic strip to stop the mudflap from rubbing the paintwork. They make a fair but of difference to mud on the front door and sills, but it may be my imagination, but I seem to use the rear window washer jet a lot less since installing them. They also work as sacrificial curb scrapers so you hear them clip high kerbs when close parking which prevents you scuffing the alloy wheels. No idea on the cambelt as I have never got that many miles in a Galaxy yet. Quote

Danny Boy Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Don't get me going on Alhambra mudflaps again........................................................................................................ I take it you had fun fitting your mudflaps too then!!! What a bloody knightmare!! :( Quote
MrT Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Problems fitting the mudflaps? It was only pushing a few U clips into existing slots, a bit of protective tape on the front wing and two screws. Are the Seat fittings different to the Ford? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 The mudflap saga:My Gal is in dire need of a wash - was going to do it on Saturday but too busy buying and fitting new kitchen tap (oh joy! Hot and cold running water again in the sink), running kids to parties etc. Just had my lunchtime walk around the site where I work (around 2000 people) and there are a number of much dirtier Sharalaxies. I can confirm that the Ford mudflaps as fitted to my Gal are a definite improvement on keeping the level of grime down. Some of those without flaps have several square feet of mud along half the bottom of the front doors, and the rear bumper sides. Mine just looks dirty grey all over and in need of a clean! The standard Ford flaps for the Galaxy do not have any logos on them and clip in place, as stated above. They should fit facelifted Alhambras and Sharans too. Quote
